Many of the policy solutions for a brighter future are already out there. The Global Policy Community brings them together.

The world faces significant challenges which are common across borders, from climate change, to education, health and beyond.

Our mission is to create a knowledge and learning platform for better public policy. The GPC highlights environmental and social policy case studies from national contexts, which can provide global lessons for policy makers and citizens alike.

Why reinvent the wheel, when you can draw on best practice?

When faced with a policy challenge, rather than starting from scratch, the sensible first step is ask the question ‘what solutions have already been devised, and were they successful?’. Unfortunately, information on best practice from other contexts is often unstructured, scattered across international organisation’s blogs, or buried at the bottom of think tank reports, placing excessive burden on policy makers.

The GPC provides standardised, digestible and actionable case studies, filterable by topic or UN SDG, promoting knowledge sharing, and taking the leg-work out of best-practice research.

Driven by young minds, and collective intelligence

The Global Policy Community is exactly that, a community. A community of individuals determined to help governments work for a more sustainable and just future, and inspired by those already taking meaningful policy steps to achieve it. To build out our case studies, we not only want to work with policy makers and experts, but also harness the energy of young minds at universities around the world, and are currently working with Masters students in the Global Development Network at the University of Copenhagen.

We believe that you don’t have to have a Post-Doc to recognise an interesting policy solution when you see one. If you have an idea you want to pitch, you can get in contact via the link.

Guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, passed by UN member states in 2015, are 17 goals which represent the closest thing humanity has to a roadmap to a better future. They span topics from improving access to clean water, to combating climate change, promoting political freedoms, gender equality, and beyond.

All policy case studies from the GPC must attempt to address one or more of the SDGs, and users can filter policies by SDG in the Policy Library.

GPC offers policy research for governments

The GPC specialises in best-practice research for policy-makers wanting to learn from the examples of elsewhere. If you are a policy maker with a specific area of interest, or would like to dive deeper into an area explored in one of our case studies, please get in touch to discuss opportunities for the GPC to support in further research on international best-practice and its suitability for policy transfer into different specific national or regional contexts.
